Den-Me: Day 5

It's our 5th day here in Esbjerg and things got a little hairy. The morning draw was against Scotland and while the girls played well they just couldn't get over that hump from yesterday. Needless to say this called for drastic measures. It was time to bring out the mohawks. The boys and I had talked about it in a drunken stupor after the banquet on Saturday and I really hadn't thought about it since. But there we were, during the break between draws, in a barbershop in downtown Esbjerg shaving our heads. The magic that took place in the shop followed us to the rink and was transferred to the ice as Team Canada roared outta the gates and took down Norway to bring them back into the win column. I think they have finally gotten the monkey off of their backs and will be set for the homestretch.

It goes without saying that we all look fantastic, although some more than others.
Perry looks like he was born to sport a mohawk. We unfortunately could not find any red dye in stores but one of our fellow fans from Yorkton kindly informed us he had brought some, so look for us tomorrow.

Den-me: Day 4

Um yeah...I'm just gonna go ahead and say yesterday got a little weird. From here on out I promise to never make a post when drunk again. When I woke up this morning I was concerned because I couldn't really remember what I had talked about and my fears were confirmed. The Denmark post was ok but the other just didn't fit.

Anyway, on to today. There isn't much to say about the two games today. The afternoon game against Russia was forgettable, but, the second game against Denmark was better. The girls made a lot of good shots and had pressure on the Danes but their skip was just unconscious tonight; she played great. I thought we had them in 10 but she made a great freeze. Oh well, we will put those 2 games behind us and move on. The girls play Scotland and Norway back to back so it will be tough but I have full confidence in their ability.

Speaking of the Norwegians, the skip, Linn Githmark certainly isn't ugly. And speaking of ugly, I finished my rum today. A 40 just doesn't go as far as they used to. Hopefully tomorrow will bring more wins, rum and double dream hands. That's right guys, The DDH have officially invaded Denmark. It is now everywhere Riley.

Den-Me: Day 3

The girls had their first game today. It was a close tough one against China but they fought their way through it. Amber made a great shot in 6 to get 4 but we had a scare in 7 and almost gave 3 back. We held on though and it was a great first win.

After the game we checked out the "Social Lounge". Jolene is not kidding; our entourage pretty much fills it. It is about the size of a normal Timmy's. It is pretty sad but considering our team has the most fans and we will drink the most, I guess it fits us.

After the lounge the Schneider's and us went on a little tour. We visited the Commonwealth War Cemetery, the local fishing museum and aquarium and the famous local statues on the beach. Along the way we stopped at the memorial dedicated to all the fisherman who had lost their lives at see. The names dated back to 1901 and went to 1992. It was pretty touching. After the memorial we went to the war cemetery. Besides the curling this is what I was most looking forward to. It was a sobering experience to see all of the graves of the men who had given their lives for our freedom. I know that sounds cliche but it's true. It was an overwhelming experience for me to see all of those graves, especially the unknown graves. The inscription "Known Unto God" was enough to bring a tear to my eye. We owe them so much. It was also nice to see that the German soldiers were also honoured, even though they were the aggressors in the war. Even though they died fighting for an evil regime, they still sacrificed their lives so that others may live.

The aquarium and fishing museum brought a more lighthearted mood back to the afternoon, especially the seals. It was almost like watching puppies they way they played and acted for their food. It was also cool because the museum housed a WWII bunker. It was hard to get away from the war today.

Once we finished lunch we headed across the road from the aquarium to the Four Men at the Sea statues. It is four white concrete guys staring out into the sea. I believe its supposed to represent the fishermen of some such but it is mostly just a photo op location. It is where Jared and I decided to unfurl the Rider Pilsner flag and represent our Rider Pride. You can't go anywhere without it. We also saw some more German bunkers and fortifications that made up the Atlantic Wall. They dot the West Danish coast because they were too expensive to move. The ones we saw were just barely sticking out of the dunes and had long ago been filled in with dirt. They were nothing more than relics of a troubled past but were interesting nonetheless.

We also stuck our feet in the water at the Four Men and fuck was it cold. After about 5 seconds you couldn't feel your feet anymore, but it was nice to say we did it. [

The opening banquet was tonight and wow was that disappointing. Compared to the Scotties last year in the Soo it was brutal. First of all there was no real structure and it was if the other team did not take it seriously. Our girls were dressed to the nines was what we expected of the others but only the Americans and the Germans attempted to dress up. The others all wore trainers with wind pants or jeans. It was embarrassing. We said if a the teams tried that in Canada we would be fined. The supper was also disappointing as it consisted of appetizers that was it. There was no main course. The food was decent but we expected more. The only highlight was the open bar.

The disappointment of the banquet was soon rectified by the events back at the hotel. Ken and Perry (Amber's brother-in-law) provided the entertainment for the majority of the night. After that they gave way to Perry and Kent, Jolene and Amber's dads, respectively.

Overall it was a good day, but tomorrow is when the game really starts. We won't have much time to do much more touristy stuff, it will mainly be curling from here on out. Although there is talk of getting mohawks and dyeing them red. Only time will tell if we go through with it. We got Russia and Denmark tomorrow. Shouldn't be the toughest day but you never know.

Sorry about the long post but there was alot going on today. And if there are spelling or grammar errors I apologize it is really late and I am pretty drunk so whatever. Sue me. Tomorrow should be good. Long day of drinking ahead.

Den-Me: Day 1-2

Well we finally made it here. It took us about 20 or so hours but we are now in Esbjerg. We flew into Copenhagen and had a couple of hours in the train station before we left for Esbjerg so we went out and took a gander. Turns out we were right across the street from Tivoli Gardens which was the only place I knew about in the Cope so that was cool. It was closed for the season but the gates were open so we went in anyway. Didn't get very far before we got kicked out though. We really only walked around the park but it was enough to make some observations.

1. The Danes love their bikes. There are probably just as many bikes on the road as their are cars. They even have special lanes for them.

2. There are no fat people. But almost everyone smokes, go figure.

3. They love their 7-11. Not even shitting you, their was three in the train station alone, all within 300m of each other. On the walk around the park we saw 5 of them. all within 1 square mile. It was nuts. And they are better than our sevs. You can buy anything there, even hard alcohol.

The train ride to Esbjerg was uneventful but nice. Got to see some of the country. Even saw some buffalo. Our hotel is alright, our rooms are like a dorm but we are close to the arena which is good for stumbling home. There is also supposed to be a bar here that is open until 6am but we haven't found it yet.

We went downtown and walked on Denmark's longest pedestrian mall. It's a nice town because there is little commercialization. Only the aforementioned 7-11s and a couple of McDonald's so far.

Opening ceremonies were pretty good. The drumline was pretty entertaining. Apparently they are some soldiers who won Denmark's Got Talent last season. The crown prince of Denmark threw the first stone. Apparently he's a big deal here. Who knew. Tomorrow we play the Chinese in our first game so hopefully we can have a good game and get off to a good start.

So here we go on another adventure. For the next 10 days or so I will be in Esbjerg, Denmark for the 2011 World Women's Curling Championships. I will try to post on regular basis but I will probably be too tired or drunk to remember. Mostly drunk. But let's face it nobody really cares about the shit on this site. It's more for my own enjoyment. Maybe I will have some awesome black out posts. Maybe then it will be interesting. Until that happens, the next time you hear from me I will be from the future.

The Future is Bleak

I was just watching Wheel of Fortune and I couldn't believe my eyes. It was amazing proof that Americans are terrible at geography. It took them a minute and 3 tries each to figure out A_c_land New Zealand. Then Pat Sajak says "Its just a little town. Its the capital actually. Its not important. Its on a map." Mind blowing.

But I guess that isn't surprising because according to the spell check on Blogger, which is run by Google, Zealand isn't a word. Its got the little red line under it. It boggles the mind. I knew Americans were a little thick, but I could never have thought in my wildest dreams it was this bad. And they are the leaders of the free world. God help us.

I've been sitting on this one for a while and I have finally seen enough. Why is it that at every 4-way stop people lose all knowledge of the road and just do whatever they want? 4-way stops were designed to control intersections, not just drive through because you have a big truck or a nice car.

When you come to a 4-way its not too difficult to understand the rules or rule which is primarily: Wait your fucking turn. You do not follow the person in front of you through the intersection. You do not pull up, tap your brakes, then continue. You do not try to turn when there is a car in front of you and then give the driver a dirty look. Asshole. I swear people are complete fucktards. Just once I would like to come to a 4-way stop and have people drive normally.

The other issue is when people do not know when it is their turn to go. Its not that hard to figure out. First person to get there goes. If 2 people get there at the same time, the person to the right goes, hence right-of-way. Just once I would like to go through a 4-way stop without the urge to kill the person in front of me. Fuck I hate people.

Why Are Jews So Funny?

I've always thought that there were a high number of Jewish comedians on TV and in the movies, but a recent trip to Wikipedia made my head spin. There were over 100 of the most famous comedians of all time. Some I already knew, such as Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, The Marx Brothers, and Mel Brooks. But others surprised me. I never new Jason Alexander, Adrew Dice Clay, or Lorne Michaels were Jewish. It boggles the mind how many of them are there. It begs the question, why are there so many and why are they so funny?

You would think that after all the shit the Jews have had to put up with over the years, from being slaves, to being persecuted as "Christ Killers" and most recently the Holocaust, you would think they would be depressed or angry. Yet here are all of these great names in showbiz history that have made us laugh over the years.

Some of them have made careers out of being Jewish, Seinfeld and Sandler come to mind. And yet others seem to suppress it for whatever reason. Many of these names found their fame in self-deprecation humour. I think the reason for this is because us non-Jews would feel uncomfortable laughing at a Jew unless he was also laughing at himself. Otherwise people would view it as racist or at the least tasteless. The same could be said for black comics.

So I haven't really answered my questions yet but fuck it, I doubt I ever will be able to. And who really cares? The more funny we have in this world the better. Except for women comics. 99.9999% of them are terrible. Terrible like Ryan Leaf.

So the poll results are in. It appears we have a split decision in the crowd regarding Stella and whether or not it tastes like shit. I say split decision because the extra yes vote is mine, since you were able to choose more than one answer, I selected yes twice. I just trying to figure out who the extra person is since I am guessing the voting went like this: Jordan, Lindsey and I were Yes and Stephen and Riley were NO. Now I don't know who the extra person is, unless someone voted yes and no.

As for the other vote, it is unanimous: Brewers change the taste of beers to suit local tastes. I once again provided the extra Yes vote at the bottom. So now I am looking for two extra people because I don't think Riley voted at all. If he did then he is a fucking hypocrite.

Glory Glory Man United!!!
That game was scary, but count on Scholes to carry the day. That goal brought back memories of his old form, and FIFA 2004 when he scored every game I played. That was an amazing shot, after an even more amazing play by Zambrotta. This sets up a real doozy of a Champions League final. First off its the first all-English final ever. That in itself is awesome. But its the teams involved that will make it special. If Liverpool triumph's today, then it will set up one of the greatest rivalries in all of football for a no holds-barred Final in Moscow. These two teams historically hate each other, and the fans more so. Could get ugly in the streets of Moscow.

But if Chelsea wins, it will be just as spectacular. ManU and Chelsea are neck and neck in the Premiership, though ManU holds the advantage on goal differential. A ManU/Chelsea final will give both teams the opportunity to go for the double Chelsea now has a legitimate shot at robbing ManU of any hardware this season when only a couple of weeks ago it looked as if all ManU had to do was show up and it would capture the double. I'm still calling on ManU to take the Premiership and Champions League although there are in tough. Chelsea has the psychological advantage after beating ManU last weekend. You can't ask for a better finish to the season.

Next Topic....

Many people predicted a San Jose and Montreal final for the Stanley Cup before the playoffs started. Now it looks more like it will be a Pittsburgh/Detroit final. In the West, San Jose and Colorado are done. It is virtually impossible to come back from 3-0. In the West Final Detroit will beat Dallas in 6. Detroit has more speed and skill, though I think Dallas has the advantage in goal.

As for the East, Pittsburgh will be through to the East Finals against....I don't know who. Montreal is only down 2-1 to Philly but Philly looks to be in control. Carey Price had a phenomenal first round but has cooled off tremendously. He will pick it up though. That game will go to the 7th game and I believe Philly will take it simply because they will work harder than Montreal. That and Philly finally has a decent goalie in Biron, well for these playoffs at least.

In the Final I see Detroit beating Philly in 6 to take the cup.

Sean Avery is out for the season with a lacerated spleen. Not sure how it happened. As much as I dislike the guy, I don't want him dead. But still, HAHAHA. Now take as much time off as you need you big baby. I just wish Laraque would have beaten the shit out of him to take him down a peg.

If team Ukraine, AKA Riley's team, makes it to the World Cup Finals on Saturday I expect a few things: 1. We are going. 2. We are going pissed. 3. We are going dressed up. (We being, well you know who you are). If Ukraine doesn't make it I think we should still go because it will be a good game. If not then we should at least get hammered. I've been hankering for a binge for a while.

Tomorrow is the big day gaming fans. The much anticipated and vigorously (read: not at all) advertised GTA IV is being released tonight at midnight. It is predicted to sell 9 million copies in its first week and shatter the record set by Halo 3 last fall. (Thats right I get my gaming fix from CBC). My question to you is how many of you are going to pick it up tonight at Midnight? How many of you are going to buy it tomorrow? And, how many of you are going to spend the next week in your basement playing GTA IV? I probably would be, but I'm gonna wait until I get home.

BTW, does anyone know if there is gonna be online co-op? I can't wait for more 1 on 1 basketball games.

So the NFL Draft is tomorrow. How many of you fucktards are going to sit in front of the TV and your computers all day to watch it? I don't know how anyone can watch it. Its so fucking boring. First off the teams have 30 min to make a pick. How do you not know who you are going to pick? You have months to decide. I bet even Miami will sit there for about 28 minutes even though they have already signed somebody, just cause they can. (Now that he's signed, can they draft somebody else, or do you have to be drafted to play in the NFL?)

Then you have to sit there and listen to the commentators speculate on everyone after each pick. They say the same things and show the same footage of them playing. Then you get the great shots of the players sitting in their living rooms with about 50 people all wearing t-shirts with his name on it.

Why would sit and watch the draft for 10 hours when you can check the results online after it is done and learn what happened in about 5 minutes? It's beyond me.

Time for a video game review.

Smash Bros. is an awesome game. It is more or less an updated version of the previous Super Smash Bros. games. There is nothing new in terms of game play. The games controls are pretty straight forward. The Wiimote's motion control is not used which makes sense. It would be a bitch to play if it did. You can play a variety of ways. You can use the Wiimote and Nunchuk, just the Wiimote, the Wii classic controller, or a Gamecube controller. I prefer the Wiimote and Nunchuk since I was shit terrible on Gamecube and the classic controller doesn't have a very nice feel to it.

Back to the game. Like I said the game is essentially an improved version of the last one. It has bettere graphics, different levels, and an unprecedented 35 characters to play as. It has a suprisingly fun and addictive single player side scrolling adventure type game. This campaign enables you to become familiarized with the controls and as you progress you unlock characters, enabling you to try each one out. You can also play co-op which would enable you complete the missions faster, but let's face it, if you have more than one person you are going to play brawl because that is essentially what this game is about. Beating the living hell out of your friends for bragging rights.

Most of the caracters have been seen before such as Mario, Pikachu, Kirby, Link, DK, Samus and Ness. All the characters are from Nintendo games with 2 notable exceptions: Sony's Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid and Sonic from Sega. I am kinda shocked that Sony allowed one of it's competitors to use Snake, but I am glad they did. Snake is by far my favorite character in the game. He is strong, fast and while his jump isn't that fantastic. His up-B move is one the best in the game, enabling him to recover from virtually anywhere.

Some people might be turned off by the sameness of the game, but for true diehard Smash Bros. fans, this is another great game to already wicked series. Much like its predecessors, this game will be played for many years to come.

It looks as if ManU's quest for the Premiership and Champions League titles were put in jeopardy this weekend, with Rio Ferdinand injuring his foot. It is unclear how long he will be out, but right now it does not look good. With both Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic out, ManU's defence is severely weakened. The back 4 will now likely be Brown, Evra, O'Shea, and Silvestre. While this is still a formidable line-up, it is going to be a struggle until Ferdiand and Vidic can return to top form.

Apparently the government has decided to removet the proxy and allow me to post. Good for me, unfortunate for you.

Some things have been going on in the world that need some tending.

1. Shockingly, my NCAA picks turned out to be mostly busts. My only team left is Memphis. Who would have thought that all #1 seeds would make it to the Final Four? Also, Tennessee, I no longer like or respect you.

2. Leafs missed the playoffs for the 3rd consecutive year. Don't believe me? Go here, here, here, and here. This is bullshit. Can't we loyal fans just get one decent year with a decent playoff run. Then we will be happy for another 10 years. Leafs got destroyed last night, but so too did Alfredsson. Fucking Eh!

3. Roma is still ManU's bitch. Roma is an awesome team, don't get me wrong, they just wet there shorts when they play ManU. United is in top form. It doesn't look like they will be stopped. With Ronaldinho out now, Barcalona won't have a chance against the Red Devils. ManU and Liverpool in the Final.

4. Bayer Leverkusen shit the bed today against Zenit St. Petersburg. Goodbye UEFA Cup. Hello Champions League. Leverkusen are 4th in the Bundasliga meaning they should get a birth in next year's Champions League if they can hold on.

5. Euro is almost upon us, only 2 months and 3 days.

Spotlight Stealing Whores

This is something that I have been thinking about for a while and this past weekend reinforced my anger and desire to vent. It pisses me off when movies tout big name actors, only to have them onscreen for about 5 minutes. Case in point: The Good Shepard and Smokin' Aces (two most recent movies I have seen).

I'll start with the one which has the least serious violations. I watched Smokin' Aces over the weekend. I saw it was on and vaguely remembered that it was an over-the-top action movie. I read the description and usually the description lists the three leading actors. Well number one on the list was Mr. Ben Afloo himself, Ben Afleck. This didn't bode well for the movie since he is a shit terrible actor and his last decent film was Dogma. I don't remeber who the other names were but they weren't Ryan Reynolds or Jeremy Piven (who I fucking hate), probably the two most central figures in the movie. The brief synopsis is Piven is a mob rat with a million dollar bounty on his head. Reynolds is the FBI agent sent to bring him in. The rest of the cast is primarily the hitmen trying to cash in on the money. Then there is Ben Affleck a bounty hunter trying to bring in Piven for some petty crime (I think). Regardless Affleck's total screen time is about 5 minutes. Five minutes work for lead acting credit. What the fuck is this shit? Just because you got paid the most doesn't mean you get lead credits. Maybe if his character was pivotal, I might let it slide but no. He did nothing. I'm glad the skin heads killed him when they did.

The other more serious offender is The Good Shepard. This movie was half bad but from what I can remember of the trailers it advertised names such as Joe Pesci, Robert DeNiro, Angelina Jolie and to a lesser degree Alec Baldwin. All big names. All with little parts. I remember there was one preview that had Pesci in it. What the trailer showed was more or less his total screen time. Fucking pathetic. Same goes for the rest of them. Jolie got a little extra time because she was Matt Damon's wife, although her screen time would have doubled had she done one of her pre-requisite sex scenes. This a long movie, close to 3 hours, but those 4 aformentioned characters would be lucky if they had a combined screen time of 20 minutes. 20 minutes for 4 actors who were led by the public to be central figures in the plot.

I'm positive there are others out there and its ridiculous. All because washed up actors like Affleck need the extra attention and publicity or directors need to cash in on the stars name, not rely on the quality of the film. The Good Shepard was overated, still good, but overated. Come to think of it, it was like Troy, that awful excuse for a movie. Increased Shitcapades

So I haven't posted in a while. Partly because there hasn't been much to talk about lately, but mostly because I am lazy and don't feel like staying at work any longer than I have to to write a post. Today is your lucky day though.

So the NHL Trade deadline came and went and not much happened in regards to my post below. Sundin and the rest of the "Frozen Five" refused to waive their no trade clauses and remain in Toronto. For some reason I wasn't as mad as I thought I would be. I think it has to do with the fact that them winning has placated me a little. In addition to the Leafs playing well, Sundin is shooting the fucking lights out. Where was this game the rest of the season. The upped game by Sundin has meant fans are even happier that he stayed or even more pissed. With him on fire, it means that he still has considerable talent left in him, meaning considerable talent and/or draft picks could have been acquired for him.

Others believe the resurence means the Leafs have a legitimate shot at making the playoffs or the very least 9th. To be honest I also had some hope return when they were only 5 pts back. But now I see that there are too few games left in the season. The Leafs will continue this pace for the rest of the season but will just fall short. Another long summer is in the works and with it a complete overhaul of the team. Sundin is going to retire and at least 3 of the other 4 are going to gone. I see McCabe and Kubina as the two most likely to go and it is a toss up between Kaberle and Tucker for the other coveted spot. Regardless the Leafs are going to be a much younger and less talented team next year and for some years to come. That is how I see it playing out. (Although I am notoriously wrong on about 95% of my predictions).

The End is Near, New Beginnings Await

The Leafs are 9 points out of a playoff spot in the East. This may seem like bad news, however any true Leaf fan will tell you that it is not so. By being absolute shit this year, the Leafs have improved their chances of acquiring the 1st overall pick in the entry draft this year.

Most people assume that Steve Stamkos will go first overall. He would be an amazing addition to the Leafs roster. A young player who actually has some potential and talent. With the lottery system, the Leafs could get even more chances if Sundin is traded for a first rounder. You listeneing Fletcher? Sundin?

Sundin you've been a Leaf for 13 years now, time to move on. We know that you are love Toronto and don't want to move, but give it up already. Think about the team. Get traded to some team that has a chance of winning, give the Leafs some picks, prospects, win the cup then re-sign with the Leafs in the off-season. Not that difficult of a choice.

If you love the organization so much be a team player and give them a nice future.

Now as for next year this is what needs to be done:

1.Dump Raycroft and Clemmensen. I don't care how its done. Trade them, waive them, buy out their salaries, doesn't matter. Toskala is number one, bring up Pogge to be the back up.
2.Re-sign Sundin.
3. Trade McCabe, Kubina, or Kaberle.
4. Trade Tucker, Wellwood, and Tlusty
5. Sign that Swede everyone is talking about. (Don't remember his name, Jordan will)
6. Try and get Campbell from Buffalo.
7. Keep Earl, Newbury and Kilger in the line-up

With those moves the Leafs should make a decent run next year.

What Gives?

Apprently my talents aren't being totally appreciated. Some crazy fucks are damaging my reputation as well as those of my loyal and dear fans. So back off crazy people.

Onwards we go...

You know for a province like Ontario that makes most of the cars we drive in this fair country, you'd think they would know how to fucking drive them. They drive like an 85 year old Chinese woman or like a 16 year old white boy who thinks they have the fastest car in the world. There are no normal drivers. They are all batshit crazy. And as if that wasn't bad enough, Ottawa is quite possibly the worst place to drive in. They have the worst infrastructure of any city. The roads are all fucking narrow. You need to stop and let people pass you.

Plus they have the worst street signs. You have to be within 10 feet to read them, by that time you have missed your turn. And if you are lucky enough to find the right street to turn at, turns out that you can't. The city map is very good at neglecting to point out which streets are one ways or that are even connecte to the main road. You have to drive around to try and find the entrance to the street. Then to get to the 67's rink you have 2 choices: Drive an extra 20 minutes past where you are trying to go then loop back or try to go straight in. The problem with that is it is only one lane, and everybody is either going to the game or to the many bars and pubs and restaurant that are on the onther side on the rink. Its a huge fucking joke. And don't even try to drive downtown. Good luck.

The only good thing is that they have a good bus system. Ifinitely better than the shit hole buses in Regina. That being said, they are only good on weekdays, when you are trying to get to and from work. Otherwise you have to wait 30 minutes for your bus. Ridiculous.

To top it off they have a shitty hockey team and some douche named Steven lives here.

Seeing as how I do not have internet yet, and game news sites are blocked on my computer, I was hoping you guys could inform me of any new or exciting gaming news. Any little bit would be helpful. ITS kinda sad that I don't know what is going on in my own world.

Green Bay lost. So much for me predicting them to win the Super Bowl. No championship for Ryan. Now we have to listen to another off season of speculation, waiting for Farvre to decide if he is going to retire or not.

Look Who's Back, Back Again

There is nothing sweeter than surfing the net on corporate time. Any way time for some random observations. WARNING: May cause extreme nausea and fatigue.

Not being able to play 360 online is terrible. I miss the days when I could kill Riley on COD4. The tough part was trying to find what corner he was in. I miss killing you too Jordan although the ratio was about 5-1 in your favour. Asshole.

That accident in Nova Scotia was bad news. 7 members of the high school basketball team died and the 1 teacher. Does the volleyball team drive vans Lindsey? Might be a good way to get people to pay attention to men's volleyball and/or it could be a good way to end your misery of having to play on a shitty team. Kill two birds with one stone.

Leafs Suck.

Colts Lost. HAHAHA. Green Bay is going to win the Super Bowl.

Not having to wear a winter coat in winter is pretty kick ass.

Now on to todays post. After my boasting of the Leafs they lost. Even it was a brutal game I'm not worrying yet. It was bound to happen sometime. Let's just hope the come back with a win against Carolina tomorrow. Also during that game McCabe went hard into the boards and the Habs promptly scored on his failed pinch. McCabe left the ice and the game in considerable pain, holding his left hand. Turns out he broke his wrist in 3 places and is now out for 6 weeks. Awesome. Just what the Leafs needed. I guess we get to see how well Kubina and Kaberle can play together.

I watched NFL Prime Time today (or what ever the hell its called) and it reminded me why I don't watch the NFL. Holy fuck is it boring. Its funny to read peoples comments about the NFL but its shitty to watch. I don't even know why I do sometimes. I don't understand what the big deal about the NFL is anyway? Why is it so fantastic? Real football and the CFL are ten times better. Matter of fact every kind of football is more enjoyable to watch then NFL. The only games I like watching are the Niners and they are shit terrible. Unless they play Cincinnati.

Since my last post about the Leafs the difference in their play is mind blowing. When I first posted they were on a 4 game losing streak. Now they are 6-1-1 since then. I'm just hoping they are going to continue their winning ways. I am fearful that they won't and will be streaky for the rest of the season. Winning enough games to miss the playoffs again. They are at a critical point now, just starting a 7 game road trip. They did however start on a positive note with a
4-0 win over Atlanta tonight. Toskala played well once again to hold Kovalchuk scoreless to record his 2nd shutout of the season.

Well looks like I hit a nerve on that last post. But I am going to be like a politician and do what I want regardless of public opinion just because I can.

Arsenal got beat down today by Middlesbrough. Yes Arsenal and yes MIDDLESBROUGH. How awesome is that? Arsenal lost 2-1 for their first loss this season. Their loss and ManU's decisive 4-1 thrashing of Derby put ManU only one point behind the Gunners for top spot in the Premiership. I don't want to get too excited but it appears a repeat is in the making. That would be awesome.

In other news Bayer Leverkusen advanced out of the group stage of the UEFA Cup. They also won on Saturday in the Bundesliga with a 3-0 performance over Hansa Rostock. They are now in fourth and are only 1 point behind Hamburg for the final Champions League birth. Leverkusen is coming on strong.

Well I think everyone has come down from their Grey Cup high. It took some longer than others. Apparently Jordan was off his high when as soon as we went outside after the game. So now we can move on from the Grey Cup and leave that glorious experience behind and focus on more pressing issues, such as: What the hell is wrong with the Leafs?

The Leafs are once again at best mediocre this year. They are hovering around .500 and if it continues probably won't make the playoffs for the 3rd straight year. Here is what could help.

Not call your GM a mistake and regret you ever hired him midway through the season. That is always bad for morale.

Stop trading your draft picks away for washed up players who will play for the rest of the season then retire just because they want to end their careers in Toronto.

Actually draft someone with talent and use them.

Don't trade for a starting goalie so you can have two starters and change them every game. This makes them fear for their jobs and play shitty. Just trade Raycroft and be done with him.

Get some defencemen that know how to play defence.

The game itself was pretty bad, Joseph couldnt throw at all. But hey who cares? I sure as hell don't. The Riders won and thats all that matters. I have never been so excited in my life, except maybe that time when I was Jessica Alba's lovemachine. But enough about my sexy body. Today is all about the Riders. The game was pretty close, it was mainly a defensive battle but the Riders prevailed. And all hell broke loose. I was running up and down Albert St. along with 5,000 other crazed and drunk fans. I was giving everbody I saw high-fives, weaving in and out of traffic. Best night of my life, except for those with Jessica Alba. Fuck I love this city and this team. GO RIDERS GO!! I feel bad for not posting anything in regards to Remembrance Day and having just learnt of 2 more Canadian deaths in Afghanistan I needed to post something. I have also provided a link at the end of the post to the best tribute video I have seen so far.

While it is true that Canada is a world leader in efforts of peacekeeping and the promotion of peace, we as a nation, have a very strong and and significant military history. People tend to forget that these days. That is why Remembrance Day is so important and significant. It is a day when we as a nation gather to mourn and celebrate those who have risked everything for Canada. It is a day where we show them the respect they so rightfully deserve and should expect from us. Veterans don't go around flaunting their status as veterans, they go about their days quietly while we are oblivious to their experiences. On November 11th we gather to recognize these men and women for what they have done for us.

This is why I get so upset when people criticize our Armed Forces. Some people claim that Canada spends too much on its military. Yet I view it as the opposite. Canada needs to spend more. If we expect our military to carry out its current mission in Afghanistan and further missions, its personnel need the best equipment we can provide for them. They need to know that they have the equipment to perform any task asked of them. They need to be ready to respond to any situation that may arise in the future.

This is also why I get angry when people call for the immediately withdrawal of our forces from Afghanistan. Canadians need to show their support for the men and women in Afghanistan. Its true many of them may not want to be there, but not because they don't believe in what they are doing. They miss their families and loved ones and would rather be in Canada than in a foreign country for extended periods of times. But they are professionals. They volunteered to join the Canadian Forces, they knew what is expected of them. They also believe in what they are doing in Afghanistan. Canada's role has shifted away from combat towards more humanitarian efforts and to provide support for the Afghan National Army. Our troops know that what they are doing in Afghanistan is needed and they are providing an essential service. They just want the rest of the world but especially Canada to realize this as well.

WOOT WOOT!! The Riders won the West Final!! WOOT WOOT!!

Next stop: Toronto.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders put on an absolutely dominating performance tonight over the B.C. Lions. Although the score was only 26-17, the Riders controlled the ball for the whole game and capitalized on B.C. turnovers, scoring 16 points off of 4 turnovers. The Riders now have a date in Toronto with the East Champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Nov. 25 to decide who will be the Grand Pubah of the CFL. The Riders are making their first appearance in the Grey Cup since 1997 and are gunning for their first championship since 1989. The Bombers were last in the finals in 2001 and celebrated their last championship in 1990.

This is the game that everyone thought, wished, hoped, dreamed and prayed would happen since the middle of the season. A meeting of the best rivalry in the CFL. It will be Labour Day x100.

That would have been the case next Sunday except for one little glitch, Bombers QB Kevin Glenn broke his arm today in the East Final. Glenn will not be able to play in the final on Sunday. Glenn is the reason that Winnipeg made it this far this year. Without him the Bombers are going to be shot down by the heavy artillery of the Riders. Saskatchewan is going to roll all over them next weekend. It will be embarassing to watch for any Bomber fan. You might as well just hand the Riders the cup now and start the parade tomorrow. You heard it hear first folks: Riders win 95th Grey Cup.

Rock Band

Rock Band is very similar to Guitar Hero except, just as the name suggests, you are not just playing guitar, you and 3 of your friends can become a rock band. You get to guitar, bass, drums and have a singer. This came sounds like it is going to be even better than GH, yet I am a little skeptical about how the singing aspect will be.

This is the game that I am most excited about. Set in AD 1191 during the Third Crusade, you play as an hashashin (assassin) who has to kill various important political figures. It is a sandbox game, meaning you can go anywhere you want whenever you want. Including climbing every building you see in the game. I am so stoked for this game to come out (in case it isnt obvious, this game has been my title pic for weeks now).

Fuck this game is going to be awesome.

Guitar Hero III

For a couple of weeks now I come to the realization that there are a shit load of awesome games coming out before Christmas that are all purchase worthy. In honour of this I have decided to present a trailer for each game, just to remind myself how awesome these games look.

Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation

This is the first game in my series. It is a flight simulation game based in an alternate world. Basically Earth, just fake countries, but the planes are all real. This game has mind blowing graphics. What you see in the video is actual game play. Ace Combat6 is already out, it was released on Tuesday.

I recently purchased the new animated movie TMNT, which is of course based on THE greatest cartoon series of all time Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (which in turn was based off the comic book of the same name). The movie was better than I expected and was a good start to what I hope will be more movies. Watching it brought back some great memories of the cartoons I used to watch and I now bring you my top 10 favorite cartoons:

Halo 3: Follow Up

So I went out and got Halo 3 like I said I was going to and now I'm pretty much addicted to it. The campaign was OK but where it really shines is online. I can play it for hours non-stop, which is what a good game should allow you to do. To play it without getting bored. I can't say if the multiplayer is any better than the 2 previous Halos because I've never really played them. This one however is pretty wicked. Definetely worth the purchase.

Halo 3

In honour of Halo 3 coming out on Tuesday I figured that I would join the bandwagon and write a little piece on it. I have to admit I've never really played the previous two installments of Halo all that much. I attribute this to having a PS2 and not a XBOX. The little I did play was fun but not enough for me to go out and get either Halos when I got my XBOX 360.

Now after reading stuff about Halo 3 for months now, the hype has taken hold of me. To me it seems as if this game is going to be purchased by every single person who owns a 360. It would seem criminal to not pick this game up. To this effect, after months on the fence, I have finally decided that I am going to get the game. It appears the media blitz has taken at least worked on one person. Halo 3 will be one of the biggest games in history. It will probably be bigger than any movie this year. It has been the most anticipated game for the 360 and possibly of all time. I'm actually kind of excited now to play this game.

Leafs New Jerseys

For those of you not in tune with the Leafs Nation, the Maple Leafs unveiled there new jerseys the other day. At first glance I thought they were hideous. But a couple of days later I'm seeing them in a different light. The white jersey doesn't look all that bad. It actually looks like a jersey from those black and white photos. You know, the ones that show what a winning Leafs team looks like. Posing with that silver cup thing. Maybe it's a sign of things to come.

The blue jersey on the other hand still looks ugly. It looks to minimalist, too blah. It looks like a practice jersey. As much as I love Maple Leaf blue, there is just way too much. The white stripes at the bottom helped to break it up. Now with the blue pants and blue jersey, it looks like they are wearing a nightgown. They should get white pants, that would make it look better. White pants would actually make the blue jerseys tolerable.

As for the removal of the shoulder patches, you don't even notice they are gone. No biggie.

Let's just hope these new jerseys will bring new life to the team and maybe they can at least make the playoffs this year. Paul Maurice was just a little ambitious by saying they would be cup contenders this year. In fact, because if I have such little faith, if they make it to the confernce finals this season I will (insert suggestion here).

P.S. Tucker is sporting some sweet kicks.

Fantasy Football

Well another NFL season has begun and with it fantasy football. I had some high hopes coming into this year. I was expecting to at least make the playoffs this year but then a series of unfortunate events brought me down to reality. First there was the draft which I was hopelessly unprepared for. Next was the season starting on a Thursday for some reason, meaning I was busy playing Duty and didn't set my lineup causing me to lose the valuable points garnered by my 2 best players. This year is starting to look like all the rest and to emphasize my disappointment I found this nifty little video that describes my situation almost to the T.

Once again I go a month with no post. Truth is I forgot this site still existed and and I've been busy playing 360 and playing with my wee. Anyway im not here to talk about my abscence. Im here to congratulate the spectacular Barry Bonds on his enormous achievement in baseball. In case you have been living in a shit hole like Utah and dont pay attention to sports, Bonds hit home run number 756 to put him past Hank Aaron as the all-time home run leader.

Despite what the naysayers, well say, Barry Bonds is not on steroids or any performance enhancing drugs. He is 110% all natural and he hit those home runs not because he was or is 'juiced up'. He hit them because he is an amazingly talented player. Not everyone can hit 756 home runs in their careers.

Bonds does not deserve all this negativity that surrounds him. He has shown time and again that he is a humble and gracious man and is taking all of this attention in stride. Bonds has done nothing wrong. He is simply playing the game he loves.

Congrats again Barry.

Pie Vs Cake

Well I am all fed and liquored up again and I found a new topic to discus. That topic is the age old debate of which is better pie or cake. I am going to lay down the law; cake is vastly superior to pie. Sure there are a couple of pies that are good but they have nothing on cake. Cake is the ultimate dessert. For any special occasion you always have cake, no matter what. That is because everyone likes cake. If you served pie at a birthday or wedding, people would think you were fucking insane and would beat you because of your stupidity. Cake is the best way to finish a meal.

Cake is easier to make than pie and it tastes better. The ultimate cake is Carrot Cake. Nothing can top it especially if it has raisins and nuts in it. The second best is plain vanilla cake simply because you can put anything on it to enhance the flavour. The best topping is sucre à la crème. If you don't know what that is take a frying pan and hit yourself over the head for being so stupid until you find out what it is. Those two cakes alone are better that any pie out there. No pie can compete. I challenge anyone to prove me wrong.

Another Disappointing Loss

ManU lost the FA Cup final again this year. This time losing to Chelsea 1-0. There was such high hopes for the Treble this year, instead they had to settle for just one, the Premiership. All in all though it was a good season, winning the league and making it to the FA Cup final and Champions League Semi-finals. Good show boys.

A little behind the times

I haven't posted in awhile since I took a little trip down to California for a bit but now I am back and ready for action. It was disapointing to learn that ManU lost 3-0 to AC Milan, espcecially after their remarkable comeback only a week earlier. The loss ended ManU's chance at the Treble, but not all is unwell. ManU did capture it's ninth Premiership title meaning their Domestic Double is still attainable. They now only have to win the FA Cup to succeed. Good luck boys.

Manchester United defeated AC Milan this afternoon 3-2. It was a far cry from the smack down they laid on Roma (see below). Milan dominated the first half and were leading 2-1 at half time thanks to Kaka. Then Milan just sat back. United had almost constant pressure agains Milan which eventually produced a goal from Rooney to tie it the game. United never let up and although they had chance after chance they could not get the go ahead goal. It seemed like the game would end in a 2-2 draw. There was only 2 minutes of added time and United made the best of it. Rooney scored his second of the game in the added time to give United the victory. Now United only has to draw Milan to advance to the Champions League Final. The Treble is still alive.

Osama: MIA

One thing that I have thinking about lately is the American lack of effort to find Osama bin Laden. No one has been able to locate him even though he is the purported mastermind of 9/11.

The American War on Terror was all started to find one man: Osama bin Laden. Well we are into the sixth year already and there hasnt been a word about him in the papers in years. The only time we hear about him is when he releases some new tape. If he is so important and was the mastermind of 9/11, then why hasn't the U.S. tried harder to find him? Sure they invaded Afghanistan and looked in some caves. But that was just a warmup for the main event, Iraq. For some reason the U.S. decided to invade Iraq, a country which had no known link to 9/11.

It is surprising to me that more Americans have not been more concerned with finding him. The news is full of Al-Quaeda (or however you spell it) yet no mention or news of bin Laden. It's like they don't care about him. He is yesterday's news. Today's news is about potential terrorist attacks that never materialize and the death of Anna Nicole Smith. She wasn't a big star. All she did was be in Playboy and married a billionaire. And that garners weeks of media attention? Wow. Big fucking deal. Soldiers dying in Iraq and Afghanistan don't even receive that much recognition and they are doing something that actually matters.

The Americans have been looking for Osama for nearly 6 years. If they really wanted to find him maybe they should ask his family or maybe even George Bush Sr. since he is so friendly with the bin Ladens. Osama probably talks with his family daily, and he is probably living it up in one of their mansions in Saudi Arabia. That is why the Americans can't/don't want to find him. They wouldn't want to offend the Saudis. I know I sound a bit like a conspiracy theorist, but honestly if they can find Saddam Hussein in a fucking hole in the ground, I'm pretty sure they can find bin Laden.

I hate finals

It is finals week again and I am about to go (more) insane. That is the reason for the dealy in posts. Studying fucking sucks. Finals week reminds me of all the things I hate about university: homework and studying. Fuck why do I even go. It probably has something to do with the fact that I don't know what I would do instead. I don't even know what the hell I am going to do when I finish university. Oh well, back to studying.

No new 360 games

There isn't alot for upcoming 360 games. The months of April and May look pretty dry. Command&Conquer 3 comes out at the end of April but it is a RTS and everybody knows that those are better on PC (Plus I already have it). Then at the end of May Shadowrun is released which looks like it has some promise. Whenever I hear people talking about an upcoming 360 game it always comes up. Other than that there are no real big name games, or even games that look interesting. There isn't much to get excited about. Oh well I guess I'll just stick to my Call of Duty 3, which is still fucking awesome.

Manchester United 7, AS Roma 1

That is right ladies and gentlemen. You read that score correctly. ManU laid an abosolute shit kicking on Roma yesterday in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quater-final (I'm a little late since I only watched the game today and I didnt want to look at any scores until I watched the game). It was an abosolute beauty game to watch. ManU had lost 2-1 to Roma last week in the first leg. This game was supposed to be close. Supposed to be. ManU, who had not scored before the 29th minute at all this Champions League opened the scoring in the 11th minute by an great goal from Michael Carrick. Alan Smith scored in the 17th minute and Wayne Rooney added another in the 19th. Ronaldo scored just before halftime in the 44th minute.

4 goals in one half is money. ManU completely dominated Roma. They had 8 shots on target and 4 were goals. The only thing that Roma led in was possession at 58% but that doesn't mean much when you are down 4 at half-time. Roma's fortunes did not fare any better in the second half.

ManU added 3 more goals in the second half. Ronaldo potted his second in the 49th minute. Carrick also got his second in the 60th minute. His was the best of the match. An abosolute snipe from outside the 18-yard box. Patrice Evra, who came on for John O'Shea gave ManU seven in the 81st minute. Daniele De Rossi did score a rather nice goal for Roma in the 69th but it was far too little too late. ManU advanced on 8-3 aggregate. They now play AC Milan in the semi-finals. They should be tough but if they continue in this form ManU will have no trouble lifting the Champions League trophy.

I was a little miffed that Fergie did not start Solskjaer. He eventually did come on as a sub but he should have started in place of Smith. I have no idea why he started Smith, considering this was only his 4th start of the season. It turned out to be a smart move considering he scored but I would have liked to Solskjaer start.

some sad news

I have some sad sad news to relate to you. It hurts so much, but here we go. I just found out that the best, most outstanding internet show Red vs. Blue: The Blood Gulch Chronicles is coming to an end after 5 great years. The show will end with its 100th episode, a great feat in itself. What makes the news harder to take is that episode 94 was recently released. Only 6 more to go till the end. The boys at Rooster Teeth did a hell of a job and I commend them. It was a great run boys.

For those of you who have no fucking clue what I am talking about, click on the wicked stuff link to find out. It is an internet show based on the Halo videogames. This show will blow your mind. It is so fucking funny. If you do not think it is funny then you have no soul, like Tucker.

One can only hope they make a new series when Halo 3 is released later this year. That game is going to be sick.

Leafs blow a again

what else is new? the leafs missed the playoffs again. there was some hope with the devils scoring with 0.8 seconds left. but they had to fuck it up in the shootout. this fucking blows. my only consolation is that the last time they missed the playoffs two years in a row they made it to the conference finals. maybe they can pull that out again next year. the only way tho is if they trade raycroft for a decent scorer and get a new goalie.
