I feel bad for not posting anything in regards to Remembrance Day and having just learnt of 2 more Canadian deaths in Afghanistan I needed to post something. I have also provided a link at the end of the post to the best tribute video I have seen so far.
While it is true that Canada is a world leader in efforts of peacekeeping and the promotion of peace, we as a nation, have a very strong and and significant military history. People tend to forget that these days. That is why Remembrance Day is so important and significant. It is a day when we as a nation gather to mourn and celebrate those who have risked everything for Canada. It is a day where we show them the respect they so rightfully deserve and should expect from us. Veterans don't go around flaunting their status as veterans, they go about their days quietly while we are oblivious to their experiences. On November 11th we gather to recognize these men and women for what they have done for us.
This is why I get so upset when people criticize our Armed Forces. Some people claim that Canada spends too much on its military. Yet I view it as the opposite. Canada needs to spend more. If we expect our military to carry out its current mission in Afghanistan and further missions, its personnel need the best equipment we can provide for them. They need to know that they have the equipment to perform any task asked of them. They need to be ready to respond to any situation that may arise in the future.
This is also why I get angry when people call for the immediately withdrawal of our forces from Afghanistan. Canadians need to show their support for the men and women in Afghanistan. Its true many of them may not want to be there, but not because they don't believe in what they are doing. They miss their families and loved ones and would rather be in Canada than in a foreign country for extended periods of times. But they are professionals. They volunteered to join the Canadian Forces, they knew what is expected of them. They also believe in what they are doing in Afghanistan. Canada's role has shifted away from combat towards more humanitarian efforts and to provide support for the Afghan National Army. Our troops know that what they are doing in Afghanistan is needed and they are providing an essential service. They just want the rest of the world but especially Canada to realize this as well.

I don't oppose to spending more on the military...if its to protect our soldiers. I do oppose anything that tries to enhance our military past what its expected to do. We don't need huge fucking tanks, we are a peacekeeping country. That's our nation's persona and we are proud of it. The U.S. has more than enough money to buy that bullshit, so let them. Helping out by purchasing expensive vehicles and such is like adding a grain of sand to the desert. Not worth our time or money. We should concentrate on peacekeeping initiatives and equipment. Better armor and protection. We don't need to protect ourselves. We have the best protection in the world...the United States. And if they decided to fuck us up (hypothetically) there would be no chance, no matter how much we spend. Ever.
So fuck that shit. Spend some money on something that could have maybe saved these guys' lives.
"They also believe in what they are doing in Afghanistan."
What kind of generalization is that? It's hardly a "pick me! pick me!" situation.
If you ever get a job, you will realize that as an employee, you are not always happy with what the boss has you doing (even if that includes your lips on his dick).
If you talked to a few people, or even took your head out of your ass, you would maybe have figured this out.
Generalizations are the new leg-warmers: not cool anymore!
P.S. Is it legit to feel guilty using this language in response to a Remembrance Day post?
Jordan sucks donkey dick
