The End is Near, New Beginnings Await

The Leafs are 9 points out of a playoff spot in the East. This may seem like bad news, however any true Leaf fan will tell you that it is not so. By being absolute shit this year, the Leafs have improved their chances of acquiring the 1st overall pick in the entry draft this year.

Most people assume that Steve Stamkos will go first overall. He would be an amazing addition to the Leafs roster. A young player who actually has some potential and talent. With the lottery system, the Leafs could get even more chances if Sundin is traded for a first rounder. You listeneing Fletcher? Sundin?

Sundin you've been a Leaf for 13 years now, time to move on. We know that you are love Toronto and don't want to move, but give it up already. Think about the team. Get traded to some team that has a chance of winning, give the Leafs some picks, prospects, win the cup then re-sign with the Leafs in the off-season. Not that difficult of a choice.

If you love the organization so much be a team player and give them a nice future.

Now as for next year this is what needs to be done:

1.Dump Raycroft and Clemmensen. I don't care how its done. Trade them, waive them, buy out their salaries, doesn't matter. Toskala is number one, bring up Pogge to be the back up.
2.Re-sign Sundin.
3. Trade McCabe, Kubina, or Kaberle.
4. Trade Tucker, Wellwood, and Tlusty
5. Sign that Swede everyone is talking about. (Don't remember his name, Jordan will)
6. Try and get Campbell from Buffalo.
7. Keep Earl, Newbury and Kilger in the line-up

With those moves the Leafs should make a decent run next year.

It's going to be pretty hard to trade any of those defensemen. They have 3 of the top four salaries on the team and you would likely only get like 60 cents on the dollar if you trade them. Especially McCabe. What an abortion of a contract that is.

What is wrong with depth at goalie? I don't think you really want Pogge playing 25-35 games do you?

Other than that I tend to agree with most of this. Especially the part about Campbell. Soups is fucking awesome.

There is nothing wrong with depth at goalie. And I said Pogge would be back up. Playing 20 games at the most. They could keep Raycroft I guess, send him to the Marlies, it's just that he is somewhat more valuable than Clemmensen. Although he too has a big contract.

As for the 3 defencemen, I think Kaberle is the likeliest of the 3 to be traded.

Even though I am writing this after the deadline...

Leafs would never let Raycroft rot in the Marlies. He isn't bad. Clemmensen is their minor league goalie. So no trading him either. Pogge isn't ready...and rushing him up to play 25-30 games would be typical for the stupid-ass Leafs. I do think he should get some time this year though. Especially since the Leafs are done.

There is no way Kaberle is getting traded. This was fucking stupid. He's the one player (besides Toskala) the Leafs would never part with. Ask anyone in the Leafs organization. He actually is one of the few guys on the team who doesn't consistently have his head up his ass.

Kubina is a possibility, McCabe too. If he waives.

Tucker, maybe, but doubtful. If they could get a return, maybe. But when he's healthy, produces much needed offense.

Wellwood? Are you fucking kidding me. Same reason as Kaberle. One of the few times the Leafs get something right in the draft...and you want to trade it away. One of the best young playmakers in the game. Just too bad he got injured this year. If that becomes an issue...maybe.

Tlusty was never going to be a star. I don't know why people are getting worked up. His potential is high, but it won't happen overnight. He has done okay this year. I would not trade him. Although, trading him might not be that costly for the Leafs right now. He will most likely make them look stupid in the future.

That Swede, is Anton Stralman. Defensemen for the Marlies. Has played half the season with the Leafs actually. Did pretty great in the Elite League, and AHL...way better than the Leafs expected. Especially since he was selected in the 7th round. He'll be 2nd pairing type guy on the Leafs soon...probably on the PP too. Nice surprise, but still not amazing. But he has excelled at every level, who knows.

Who I think will be the next up and comer is Jeremy Williams. Some of the goals he had this year...wow. Great wrist shot too. Which is what the Leafs need. A sniper. I remember watching him play for SC Broncos. Phenomenal. He will be the surprise the Leafs need.

Yeah, getting Soups from Buffalo would have been deadly. Couldn't see how it could happen though.

Finally...yes. Keep Robbie Earl. He will improve, and adapt.

Kilger and Newbury are shit fucking terrible. Get your head checking Marc. Haha, and yes...Kilger was traded. Can't believe Florida gave up a 3rd for him. I wouldn't throw away more than a 5th.

No Stralman was not the one I was referring too. It was some hot shot offensive player who was lighting the lamp. I finally found his name, Fabian Brunnstrom. Apparently he has been ripping it up in the Swedish Elite League.

Ya wanting to keep Kilger was a mistake, now he's AWOL from the Panthers. Maybe so with Newbury. But I still don't see Wellwood being able to produce.

And yes Kaberle is the Leafs best defenceman but because of this he generated the most interest, therefore would get the most in return.

And Williams was on pace for an 80 goal season, but now he only has 3 goals in 4 games. He needs to stay up. If he was a starter and Sundin comes back next year, they should play together, hell they play together now to see what it would be like.

And finally, fucking Belak got traded. NOOOOO!!!! Now the Leafs don't have anybody that can fight on regular basis. Gonna miss you Belak.

Never heard of Fabio Bumstrom. Hopefully he is lighting the lamp, for the Buds' sake.

I just don't see what a possible upgrade would be for Kaberle. He is still reasonably young, one of the best PP guys in the league, and all-round solid player. Hasn't been contributing of late, but he's too good to let it go on much further. If they trade Kaberle, they would want picks and young prospects. It would help in rebuilding yes, and would (hopefully) spread out some talent if they drafted right. But I just don't think the Leafs could justify losing a guy like that...it would have to be a ridiculous deal (Hossa type) to be worth it. Even though the Leafs would let him go for less, probably. Because they are dumb.

Belak was garbage. He has experience I guess. But the dude could fight and skate. Not the most difficult role to fill. I'd be pumped to dump him off for a pick.

The way I see it is if Sundin doesn't come back next year then anything can happen. If he does come back then nothing will happen.

There is nothing wrong with Belak. He just needed to play more.

Haha. Yep. That was the problem.
